Annie Ricci: The Eve of Christmas (Poem)

Nature's GeometrySnowflakes twinkle in Christmas lights
Pine trees shudder under blankets of white
I tightly close my eyes and pray with might

For peace to enter the world
And for suffering to end
For broken hearts and minds to heal
And anguished souls to mend

My eyes softly open to gaze on the star filled sky
I breathe in crisp winter air and let out a slow, slow sigh
And I thank the Creator for this magical night.
